Central Church

118 W. Ashley Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101

Welcome to Central Church in Jefferson City, MO. Our mission is to be a welcoming, Gospel-centered people who worship God and serve our community in word and deed.

The people of Central Church come together to commune with each other and to Commune with our Risen Savior. We truly believe that our mission IS mission… helping others, doing what we can to make life a little easier for those less fortunate, because that is what Christ has called us to do. At Central Church, you will find a church that soon feels like Home, and a congregation that soon feels like Family. We invite you to come visit with us, worship with us, and join our family.

Central Church was established in 1858 by a group of German immigrants in Jefferson City, MO as Central German Evangelical Church. Throughout our history, we have been part of the Evangelical, Evangelical & Reformed, and United Church of Christ denominations. We are now non-denominational, but we still hold fast to our Protestant, Lutheran, Evangelical & Reformed, and Congregational Christian roots and traditions, while being open to change and new opportunities.  We hope to see you at one of our worship services or one of our many functions!.

Because of the unreliability of cell signals there, we are not sure that we will able to stream this Sunday’s service from Sanders Farm.  We hope to at least record it and upload that recording later in the day to the archive to the right and to Facebook.

By Royal Invitation of the King of Kings, loyal subjects are being summoned to join the merry company at VBS. The festivities run July 11-15, from 9:30 a.m. until high noon each day. Adventure-loving subjects, ages 4 through those who completed 5th grade, are invited to join us in our merry adventures. By special decree, there are great Bible adventures planned as we learn to stand strong for God. Loyal friends and grandkids are welcome to join the festivities. Please surrender registration by July 8 to ensure enough supplies in the courtyard. For more information about the week’s festivities, to register online, or to volunteer, please visit our VBS Information and Registration Page.

Get ready to stand strong for God as we experience His Kingdom together!

Sermon Series

The Book of Psalms is often viewed as the hymnal of the Bible… songs of devotion to God. Beginning on Sunday May 29, Reverend Dr. Jason Abbott begins a summer sermon series focused on these devotional hymns entitled “Songs of Summer: God in the Psalms”. Each week will focus on a different Psalm and a different aspect of God. We hope that you will join us for this celebration of love for our Savior.

Central Church has a new logo packed with symbolism. Notice the fish in the image. The fish was used in the early church to secretly identify yourself as a Christian when it was truly dangerous to be one. In the fish, there are two Cs signifying Central Church, and the tail forms a cross representing Christ’s atonement for sins. We chose red as one of our colors not only because it is everywhere around our church but because it represents the blood that Christ spilled for us at Calvary. Note that the red portion of the logo forms a drop of that blood. Next to it all is our motto: “Central Church: where Christ is central.”
